In this answer, you find step-by-step instructions and an example of searching the ATLA Religion database that includes the Scripture Index of books of the Bible in their canonical order.

1. Go to the Fuller library A-Z databases page: https://infoguides.fuller.edu/az.php

2. Select ATLA Religion with ATLAS (S stands for serials or journals), the American Theological Library Association database. Sign in with your username and password if necessary.

3. To select the Scripture index terms, click Subjects and select the ATLA Scripture Search from a dropdown menu or click the Scripture Scripture Search link on the left hand side of the search page.

4. To skip scrolling, begin the Scripture index search without the chapter and verse reference: type Deuteronomy instead of Deuteronomy 5:16.

5. Select a book reference and expand a book index to chapter and verse levels if needed.

6. Add selected references. For example, the Scripture term Deuteronomy 5:16 will be added to the search box at the top of the page as SR "Deuteronomy 5:16".

Join search Scripture Index terms with connectors: OR (expands a search), AND (limits a search) and NOT (excludes a term).

7. Click Search.

The search terms for Qurʼan, Book of Mormon, Mishnah and Babylonian Talmud are included in the ATLA Subject Thesaurus.
