What is the Writing Center?
The Writing Center is available to provide resources and guidance for students of all levels and programs in every stage of the writing process. The Center offers writing consultation services online, in-person, and by phone/Skype.
Please note: The Writing Center does not edit student work. Instead of making substantial edits, writing consultants will indicate every opportunity for improvement in a paper, including improvements in spelling, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure, and general clarity. Students should plan additional time after their Writing Center consultation to make their own edits, taking Writing Center advice into account.
Where is the Writing Center located?
The Writing Center is located on the third floor of the Hubbard Library in Pasadena, rooms 306 and 307.
What are the Center's hours and contact Info?
The Writing Center is open Monday-Thursday, 8 am – 7 pm, and Friday 8 am-4 pm.
Phone: (626) 584-5431
What is the cost for Writing Center services?
Current students are entitled to one free consultation (50 minutes) every week in the quarter. Additional hours can be purchased at $10 an hour for MA and $20 an hour for doctoral students.
How can I make an appointment?
You can make an appointment (at least 12 hours in advance) using the library's online appointment calendar. If you would like to check availability for a faster appointment window, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
