Turnitin is an online plagiarism detection service that some faculty utilize as part of the assignment submission process on Canvas. Turnitin produces a similarity report that highlights student paper content that matches Turnitin's document database. The report must be analyzed to determine what passages are legitimate uses of existing language (e.g. direct citation/ quoting), and what passages might constitute plagiarism.
Students are able to run a preliminary check on their papers before final submission on the canvas help resource page.
Specific instructions on the file submission process should be available within the canvas course itself, but you can view additional instructions on the Turnitin website and as a video tutorial (closed captioning not available).
These instructions show you how to find your similarity report through either the grades or assignments page in Canvas. You can also view a sample report.
