Turnitin is an online plagiarism detection service that some faculty utilize as part of the assignment submission process on Canvas. Turnitin produces a similarity report that highlights student paper content that matches the turnitin document database. The report must be analyzed to determine what passages are legitimate uses of existing language (e.g. direct citation/ quoting), and what passages might constitute plagiarism.
Students are able to run a sample check on their papers before final submission on the canvas help resource page.
Specific instructions on the file submission process should be available within the canvas course itself, but you can view additional instructions from the vendor on their student instruction page. Instructions include accessing your similarity report, understanding the report, and additional information regarding accepted file types and sizes.
