A recall is a process by which the borrowing period for a checked out book is shortened by the library. Usually this occurs for three reasons:

1. A patron has a book checked out that is needed for the reserve collection.  The book is recalled so that staff can place the book on reserve.

2. The eReserves Department needs to scan a section of the book to upload to Canvas.

3. A patron may need a book checked out to another patron who has longer checkout privileges such as faculty, PhD students, and ThM students.

Once the recalled book has been returned, it is put on reserve or held behind the front desk for the patron who requested it.

Patrons will be emailed to inform them of the recall along with their new due date. Items that are not returned by their new recall due date will be subject to  $5.00 per day library fine. 

COVID-19 Update: 
Please note that although standard book checkout times are extended until April 30th, patrons must still respond to requests for recalled items. If your item has been recalled, you can return it at the external library book drop next to the library's front entrance or inside at the circulation desk during normal operating hours.
